On 11th August 2016 peacefully at the Woodlands care home Richard aged 90 years formerly of Clayton-le-Moors and Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Edna, much loved father of Carl and dear brother-in-law of Alan.

Richard served with the Royal Navy during WW2 having volunteered in early 1943 - 1946 and was the last surviving member of HMS St Brides Bay Association first commission. He was very proud to have served his country. Following WW2 he began work at shopfitter's and later worked in the building and steel erection trade. In later years he enjoyed extensive travel with his wife Edna visiting many countries of Europe and especially enjoyed their many trips to Italy. Richard especially loved horse racing, enjoyed a bet and always looked forward  to visiting race courses with his friends from Bold Steet WMC and the King’s Arms, Accrington. A hard working and humble gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Devoted caring lady

On 9th August peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family Margaret aged 60 years of Blackburn. The devoted and much loved wife of the late David, loving mum of Neil and the late Paula, a dear mother-in-law, cherished grandma and great-grandma and a much loved sister. 
A loving and caring lady who loved to help others, Margret worked in nursing for over twenty four years at Blackburn Royal Infirmary until her retirement, she made many good friends and was a well known face in the hospital. Away from her work she loved to travel, they enjoyed both sightseeing and relaxation holidays and travelling around Europe and worldwide. Margaret lived in Spain and Cornwall before moving back to her roots in Blackburn. A proud mum, grandma and great-grandma who loved nothing more than getting her family together and always took the opportunity to spoil her great-grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed shopping and could often be found browsing in the shops of Blackburn with her sisters.

Well known former Chiropodist

On 12th August 2016 peacefluly, Doris aged 92 years of Blackburn formerly of Darwen. The dearly loved wife of the late John, much loved Mum of Hazel and Susan, very dear mother in law of Graham and Paul and loved grandma of David and Christopher.

At the start of the war, Doris worked for the Fire Brigade before training as a State Registered Nurse. Doris then became a Diistrict Nurse in Darwen. She was popular with all who knew her and was caring and professional in her duties. She then qualified as a Chiropodist and later worked in private practise for John Lewis and Crown in Darwen. Artistic and talented, Doris loved crafts and painted beautiful ceramincs. She also excelled in flower arranging and cake decoration. She also loved knitting, sewing and tapestry and was a former member of Blackburn Horticultural Society. Doris was always willing to help others and could be relied upon to brighten the day of those around her.

Life-long member of St Mary's RC Church & cat lover

On 11th Augusy 2016 peacefully at her home following a long illness Mary aged 84 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly beloved wife of the late Jack and devoted Mum of John and his partner Patricia. 

Mary was a life long and devoted member of St Mary's Church, Clayton-le-Moors. She started her working life as a weaver and then became a cleaner at Mount Carmel School. Mary loved her home and enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful summer garden bursting with colour. She loved animals too, especially cats and doted on her own cat, Ginger. Mary also enjoyed being in company and had many happy hours socialising with her friends and shopping at Oswaldtwistle Mills. She liked to watch TV too - partocularly Emmerdale.  Requiescat in Pace.
