Devoted family lady

On 26th February 2017 peacefully in The Hospice, Maureen aged 70 years formerly of Oswaldtwistle.  The dearly loved and loving wife of Alan, much loved mum of Vicky and Martin, dear mother-in-law of Andy and Sara Jane and loving grandma of Alex, also much loved sister, sister-in-law and auntie.

Maureen worked at the Royal Ordnance Factory as a progress chaser for many years before taking over M & M Newsagents in Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors with her husband Alan which they ran for 14 years until retiring in 2003. Maureen enjoyed chatting with all the customers and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed yoga and dancing and was an avid reader of spy novels and thrillers. 10 years ago she and Alan moved to Catalonia, Spain to be near Martin, Sara Jane and grandson Alex. Maureen loved the sunshine and was a keen swimmer and joined a swimming club in Spain. Ever active and happy in company, Maureen was a very popular member of various womens' groups.  She was a very sociable and loving character who was always smiling.  Practical, modest and gentle, Maureen will be remembered for her sunny disposition and warm sense of humour. Devoted to her wonderful family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A true Clayton man

On 27th february 2017 peacefully at his home with his family by his side, Frank aged 80 years of Clayton-le-Moors.  The devoted husband of Doreen, loving dad of Christine, Craig, Michael, Jacqueline and Chantel, dear father-in-law, grandad, great grandad and brother.

Frank worked as a refuse collector for Hyndburn Borough Council.  In his spare time he enjoyed woodwork and pottering in his garden.    Frank also enjoyed watching films, in particular action films.  He was a true Clayton man who was very proud of his home and town.


Family flowers only please.  Donations in memory of Frank on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.

An amazing family lady

On 25th February 2017 peacefully in St Catherine's Hospice Norma aged 93 years of Clayton-le-Moors.  The devoted wife of the late Harold, much loved mum of Stephen and David, dear mother-in-law of Diana and Elaine, cherished grandma of Matthew, Rebecca, Stewart and Charlie, great grandma of Peter, Rosa, Willow and close friend Ron.

Norma worked at Enfield Adult Day Care Centre for many years before retiring at the age of 59.  She enjoyed a long and happy retirement.  Norma loved her ballroom dancing and would go dancing with her husband every Saturday.  She also enjoyed her holidays, be it touring the UK in her caravan, holidays abroad in northern Europe or cruising.  Norma was a lifelong member of All Saints Church where she was a member of the Mothers' Union and an active member of the Church where she took part in the flower rota.  She enjoyed all things relating to crafts and in particular flower arranging and knitting.  Norma was also a very keen gardener and always kept her garden immaculate.  Above all, she was an amazing family lady who loved all her family and always enjoyed getting together with her family.

On 10th February 2017, Jeff aged 84years.  The devoted husband of Anne, adored father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jeff will be remembered with deep affection and will be sadly missed.

And in all times, love remembers.
May time soften your pain

Life loving lady

On 18th February 2017 peacefully in hospital Vera aged 81 years of Clayton-le-Moors.  The devoted wife of the late Jack, much loved mum of Pauline and Graham, cherished grandma of Simon, Claire, David and Nicholas, great-grandma of Isabella, dear sister of Sarah, Ronald and his wife Marie, and also dear friend of Harold and Joyce.

After leaving school Vera started her working life as a weaver.  She later worked as a book-keeper and eventually retired early due to ill health from Ward Knowles where she worked as a cleaner.  Vera loved to go out dancing in local clubs with her husband Jack and their many friends.  She also enjoyed her sun holidays in Europe with Jack and Jack's cousin Walter.  In her spare time, Vera enjoyed arts and crafts and got involved within local card making clubs and always sent homemade cards to her family and friends for all occasions.  Vera always looked forward to her weekly trips to Accrington for a spot of lunch with her good friend Joyce.


No flowers by request.  Donations in memory of Vera on behalf of the Stroke Association.
