The Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Church of St. Mary's, Devonshire Drive, Clayton-le-Moors led by Father A Clarke. Ian will then be laid to rest with his beloved wife at St. John's Cemetery Padiham

Lifelong devoted member of St. Mary's Church

On 15 December 2016 peacefully at his home 'Fortified By The Rites of Holy Mother Church' Ian aged 76 years of Clayton-le-Moors.  The dearly beloved husband of the late Marie, much loved dad, grandad, brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

Ian worked as a toolmaker in the family business Cherilea Toys in Blackpool and he retired as Managing Director of Triang Toys in Manchester.  Ian had been a lifelong devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Clayton-le-Moors where he led the choir and loved singing. Ian also painted the Church interior and created the parish hall as well as restoring the burial ground. Foundation Governor of St. Mary's School and Clerk to the Governors, Ian was dynamic and committed to everything he did. He also chaired the School Appeal Panels in Lancashire, Liverpool and Greater Manchester until the age of 73 and had been voluntary worker with Prospects. In his earlier years, Ian was a retained fire fighter at Kirkham. A real home bird, he adored his garden and he found much pleasure gardening and was a member of Clayton-le-Moors Horticultural Society, chairing the WEA, organising many trips to lovely gardens and stately homes. Ian's work had taken him all over the world and he and Marie had also enjpyed wonderful holidays to far flung destinations, his favourites being Japan and Egypt. He loved the sunshine and his golden heart was massive. A popular and well respected gentle man, Ian was a man of principle and compassion and he was loved and respected by all. Requiescat in Pace.

Well known local lady

On 9th December 2016 peacefully in hospital, Hilda aged 79 years of Clayton-le-Moors.  The dearly loved wife of the late Fred, much loved mum of Linda and the late Sandra, loving mother-in-law of Stephen and Stephen, loving grandma of Nikki and Gareth, great-grandma of Mia and dear sister of Bill and the late Winifred, Jim and George and also a dear auntie.

Hilda working life was spent at Hambledon Mill in Accrington and also at Noels factory in Stanhill and worked a variety of jobs until her retirment. Family holidays were much enjoyed in Great Yarmouth.  Hilda doted on her dog Hannah, a miniature Schnautzer, and particularly enjoyed their times spent in the park. Hilda was an avid reader of novels and she also enjoyed watching the soaps on TV and having the odd flutter on the horses.  She also loved listening to the songs of Elvis Presley. A very warm and friendly lady, Hilda had a great sense of humour and was always happy and smiling. Well known locally, she would chat to eveyone.

On 9th  December 2016 peacefully in hospital, Barbara aged 86 years of Rishton.  The dearly loved wife of the late Donald and loving and much loved mum of Frank and the late Nicholas.

Barbara spent several years of her working life as a carer at the Acorn Lodge in Accrington and later worked at Express Gifts until her retirement. She enjoyed afternoons spent at the Rishton Centre chatting away over a cup of tea.  Barbara enjoyed watching all the soaps on TV, never missing an epsiode of her favourite Corronation Street.  She enjoyed reading her magazines and watching a good detective drama on TV .  Barbara was always smiling and was warm and sunny natured. She will be remembered for being gentle and nice.

Much loved family lady

Katherine Mary Hartley of Clayton le Moors and formerly Thorn Street Great Harwood peacefully passed away on Saturday 10th December 2016 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, with her loving family beside her.  Katherine was the much loved wife of Donald, mother of David and the late Stephen, mother in law of Jane, cherished grandmother of Shada, Daniel, Geraldine and Brendan, great grandmother of Jade, Jacob, Noah, Autumn and Hunter.  Katherine will be greatly missed by the wider family and her friends. 

Katherine and Donald were well known and respected in Great Harwood since their time running The Dairy on Glebe Street and also their milk round in the surrounding areas.

Popular darts player

On 10th December 2016 peacefully in hospital, David aged 77 years of Church.  The dearly beloved husband of the late Emma, the loving and loved brother of Keith and Margaret and also a dear brother in law and uncle.

David spent most of his working life as a minor working in various mines over the years. He also worked at Express Gifts as a labourer  before his retirement.  David was a great dominoes and darts player and was well known on the circuit in Oswaldtwistle and Accrington.  David was popular and always friendly. He enjoyed being in company and having a drink. He loved pigeons too and was a real pigeon fancier and even kept a few at his home. David liked music and adored his Blackburn Rovers football team.  He also enjoyed watching sports on TV.

David's family have requested Family Flowers Only Please
