On 1st April 2017 in Hospital Brenda aged 82 years of Oswaldtwistle and formerly of Blackburn. The devoted wife of the late John, much loved mother of Stephen and Paul, dear mother-in-law of Julie and Karen, cherished grandma of Katie, Lucy, Amber and Max and dear sister to Sylvia, Shirley and Raymond.
Brenda started her working life in the mills of Blackburn as weaver and then later gave up work to become a full time mum and housewife following the birth of her two sons. A passionate gardener who always kept her garden immaculate and ensured it bloomed with full colour during the summer months. Brenda was a strong and independent lady who knew what she wanted in life. She enjoyed holidays around Europe with her husband John especially to Austria. A proud Grandma who will be sadly missed by all family and friends.

Peacefully in Hospital on 3rd April 2017 Doris aged 88 years of Great Harwood. The devoted wife of the late Hartley, loving mum of Barbara and John, dear mother-in-law of Granville and Angela, cherished grandma of Annie, Daniel, Christopher, Rosie and Vikki and great grandma to George and Isla. 
A devoted and passionate primary school teacher Doris taught for over forty years and spent most of them at St Bartholomew’s Great Harwood and became a very well known and respected lady. A life long member of the Church and member of the Mothers Union. A keen gardener who always ensured her cottage garden bloomed with full colour. Doris loved her family and always looked forward to family visits especially from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Devoted family lady

On Monday 20th March 2017 aged 75 years, peacefully at home after a series of illnesses.  The devoted and much loved wife of Colin, loving mother of Nicola, Sarah and Richard, mother-in-law of Andrew and Steven, cherished granny of Jacqueline, Caroline, Rebecca, Robert, Louise and Matthew, great granny of Lara, Jake, Harry and Jack and dear sister of Michael.

Sheila was a Yorkshire woman who moved to Lancashire at age 12.  She met Colin at the age of 16 at Accrington Con-club on New Year's Eve and they remained together ever since.  She started her working life as a secretary until becoming a mother of three.  She enjoyed her caravaning holidays with friends and family and later in life holidays in the mediterranean, or simply day trips to Lytham and wandering around garden centres.  She loved spending time with family.  She enjoyed the garden and relaxing in the sun.  From age 59, osteoporosis gradually restricted her activities.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed her cross-words.  The most important thing in her life was always her family.

A Well-Known and Respected Lady

Suddenly but peacefully on 18th March 2017, Barbara aged 75 years of Stanhill, Oswaldtwistle.  The devoted and much loved wife of Derek, loving mum of Susan and Matthew, dear mother-in-law of John and Annette, cherished nanna of Lewis, Joseph, Harrison and Chloe, and a dear sister, sister-in-law and auntie.

Barbara was a hairdresser and joint proprietor with her twin sister Margaret of Salon Bra-Mar on Roegreave Road, Oswaldtwistle where she became a well-known and respected lady.  In her younger years, Barbara and her sister, were known as the 'Wood's twins'. Barbara enjoyed her holidays both in the UK and abroad and especially enjoyed touring in the caravan in the UK and France.  She enjoyed one week away every month for the last 17 years.  Barbara was formerly a member of the Mothers' Union and she also enjoyed Masonic's Ladies nights out.  She also enjoyed looking after her grandchildren and dining out every week at the Duckworth Hall.
