Devoted family lady

On Monday 20th March 2017 aged 75 years, peacefully at home after a series of illnesses.  The devoted and much loved wife of Colin, loving mother of Nicola, Sarah and Richard, mother-in-law of Andrew and Steven, cherished granny of Jacqueline, Caroline, Rebecca, Robert, Louise and Matthew, great granny of Lara, Jake, Harry and Jack and dear sister of Michael.

Sheila was a Yorkshire woman who moved to Lancashire at age 12.  She met Colin at the age of 16 at Accrington Con-club on New Year's Eve and they remained together ever since.  She started her working life as a secretary until becoming a mother of three.  She enjoyed her caravaning holidays with friends and family and later in life holidays in the mediterranean, or simply day trips to Lytham and wandering around garden centres.  She loved spending time with family.  She enjoyed the garden and relaxing in the sun.  From age 59, osteoporosis gradually restricted her activities.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed her cross-words.  The most important thing in her life was always her family.

The service to celebrate Barbara's life will take place at Immanuel Church, Oswaldtwistle. Barbara will then be laid to rest in the churchyard.

A Well-Known and Respected Lady

Suddenly but peacefully on 18th March 2017, Barbara aged 75 years of Stanhill, Oswaldtwistle.  The devoted and much loved wife of Derek, loving mum of Susan and Matthew, dear mother-in-law of John and Annette, cherished nanna of Lewis, Joseph, Harrison and Chloe, and a dear sister, sister-in-law and auntie.

Barbara was a hairdresser and joint proprietor with her twin sister Margaret of Salon Bra-Mar on Roegreave Road, Oswaldtwistle where she became a well-known and respected lady.  In her younger years, Barbara and her sister, were known as the 'Wood's twins'. Barbara enjoyed her holidays both in the UK and abroad and especially enjoyed touring in the caravan in the UK and France.  She enjoyed one week away every month for the last 17 years.  Barbara was formerly a member of the Mothers' Union and she also enjoyed Masonic's Ladies nights out.  She also enjoyed looking after her grandchildren and dining out every week at the Duckworth Hall.

Keen cricket fan

On 12th March 2017, Tom aged 85 years of Great Harwood and formerly of Clayton-le-Moors.  The devoted and much loved husband of Joan and loving dad of Peter and his late son Christopher.

Tom was a Lithographer at Broadleys all his working life right up until his retirement.  In his younger years he was a keen sportsman who enjoyed playing cricket, football and bowles.  He was a former member of the Grange Bowling club and a keen player, and he kept up-to-date with cricket all his life.  Tom enjoyed his holidays abroad, especially Cyprus and he even travelled to Barbados to watch the cricket.  He also enjoyed daily trips to the coast with his two Westies, Katie and Gemma, where he could let them have a run on the beach.  Tom was also a member of All Saints Church where he was formerly a sidesman.

Proud nanna

On 14th March 2017 peacefully in hospital Marcia aged 80 years of Clayton-le-Moors and formerly of Poulton-le-Fylde and Rochdale, the much loved and loving mum of Lisa, Carolyn and David, dear mother-in-law of Peter, Annette and George, cherished nanna, great-nanna and great-great-nanna.

Marcia worked as a seamstress all her working life and enjoyed making anything and everything from clothes to toys.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo and watching quiz programmes.  Marcia was a very knowledgable lady who always kept herself up-to-date with current affairs.  She enjoyed her first trip abroad to the Costa del Sol just 3 years ago with her daughter and son-in law.  Marcia was a very proud nanna who enjoyed having her family around her.

No flowers by request.  Donations may be made in memory of Marcia to a charity of your own choice.
